Wayne Cheng, Owner / CEO
Since 1992, Mr. Cheng has been the founder, principal shareholder, director and an executive officer of various affiliates of Pacific Castle, which have acquired numerous properties with a market value in excess of $500 million. Affiliates of Pacific Castle currently own and/or manage a portfolio of premier shopping centers in the western United States. The total portfolio is comprised of nearly 2 million square feet. From 1987 to 1989, Mr. Cheng was a professional accountant at Ernst & Young (formerly Arthur Young, CPA’s) in Los Angeles, California and prior to that worked in the tax department of KPMG Peat Marwick.
Rod Astarabadi, President
Rod Astarabadi is the President of Pacific Castle. He has over 28 years of real estate investment and management experience with over $1 billion of transaction and financing track record. Mr. Astarabadi joined the Pacific Castle management team in 2002 with responsibilities including the company’s plans, strategies and operations including direct oversight of all asset and property management, leasing and acquisitions/capital markets. Prior to joining Pacific Castle Management, inc., he served as Director of Due Diligence of Passco Real Estate Enterprises from 1999 to 2002, as Portfolio manager for Wilshire Financial Services Group from 1995 to 1998 and handled acquisitions, property and asset management for Investment Real estate Services for 10 years prior to joining Wilshire Financial Services Group. Mr. Astarabadi is a 1985 graduate of California State University at Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and is licensed by the California Real Estate Department.
Steve Ko, Controller
Mr. Ko jointed the Pacific Castle management team in 1998. Prior to joining Pacific Castle Management, Inc., Mr. Ko served as an accountant with various companies. Mr. Ko is a 1991 graduate of California State University at Fullerton with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Jonathan Chang, Director of Investments
Jonathan Chang joined Pacific Castle in 2008. As the Director of Investments he is in charge of all underwriting and acquisitions at Pacific Castle and since his arrival he has acquired over $300 Million in retail real estate for Pacific Castle. Prior to joining Pacific Castle Mr. Chang was a principal in a tech startup that was acquired and thereafter went public for a valuation of over $1 Billion Dollars. Mr. Chang continues to serve on the board of multiple tech ventures which allows him to have a unique perspective in viewing and underwriting real estate investments. He is also an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and is often invited to speak at conferences on real estate investments.
Judi Harris, Director of Property Management
As Director of Property Management, Judi Harris oversees the property management and operation services for Pacific Castles’ retail portfolio. Ms. Harris has a broad knowledge of all phases of commercial real estate including direct oversite of the property management team and is responsible for facilitating the company’s shopping center redevelopment, construction and tenant improvement projects.
Ms. Harris has over 25 years of real estate management experience in retail, office and industrial. Prior to joining Pacific Castle, Ms. Harris served as Property manager for Jones Lang LaSalle and Sierra Capital. She is a licensed California Real Estate Professional and a member of ICSC.
Ryan Schnell, Director of Leasing
Mr. Schnell joined the Pacific Castle management team in 2008 with responsibilities including all aspects of leasing. He has over 19 years of real estate leasing experience. Prior to joining Pacific Castle Management, he served as Director of Leasing at The Abbey Company 2001 to 2009 and over saw all aspects of leasing. Mr. Schnell was at Colliers from 1995-2001 and was in the Circle of Excellence years 2006, 2007, 2009, 2000. Mr. Schnell is a 1996 graduate of University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and History and is licensed by the California Real Estate Department.
Jack Hsu, Director of Investor Services
Jack Joined Pacific Castle in 2018, in the capacity of Director of Investor Services, bringing nearly 20 years of institutional experience in finance, investments, and executive management. In commercial real estate, Jack served for 5 years with AIG originating real estate transactions in the Pacific Northwest region covering all commercial asset types. After AIG, Jack joined the global private equity fund platform of CBRE Investors and managed the Asia-Pacific territory as a Director of Investor Services. Afterward, Jack leveraged his domestic and international experience as a principal in a new platform aimed at placing foreign capital into commercial real estate investments in the U.S. Previously, Jack spent an extended period at PIMCO in investment operations and account management, transitioning from the Newport Beach headquarters to Tokyo to help launch the Japan office. Jack also served as the founding Executive Director of the UCI Long US-China Institute, managing all aspects of the Institute’s operations, partnerships, and donor relations. Jack received his MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA and his BA in Economics from the University of California, Irvine, and is licensed with the California Bureau of Real Estate.
